Luke highlights these women certainly Luke highlights these women certainly Luke highlights these women certainly because their conversion mattered, not because their conversion mattered, not because their conversion mattered, not because their value was greater, but because their value was greater, but because their value was greater, but possibly because their influence was possibly because their influence was possibly because their influence was significant. In cities like Thessalonica significant. In cities like Thessalonica significant. In cities like Thessalonica and Berea, and Berea, and Berea, women from elite households could shape women from elite households could shape women from elite households could shape family decisions, social networks, and family decisions, social networks, and family decisions, social networks, and community dynamics. So, the gospel community dynamics. So, the gospel community dynamics. So, the gospel wasn't just reaching people on the wasn't just reaching people on the wasn't just reaching people on the margins. It was penetrating the very margins. It was penetrating the very margins. It was penetrating the very fabric of these societies. These women fabric of these societies. And Luke shows us this more than once.

I don't know where any of those individuals stand with any of those individuals stand with any of those individuals stand with Christ. I don't know what they believe. Christ. Kings like Nebuchadnezzar, corrupt tax Kings like Nebuchadnezzar, corrupt tax Kings like Nebuchadnezzar, corrupt tax collectors like Zacchaeus, immoral collectors like Zacchaeus, immoral collectors like Zacchaeus, immoral outsiders, persecutors like Paul the outsiders, persecutors like Paul the outsiders, persecutors like Paul the Apostle himself, and no amount of Apostle himself, and no amount of Apostle himself, and no amount of status, status, status, sin, sin, sin, or scandal or scandal or scandal put someone outside the reach of God's put someone outside the reach of God's put someone outside the reach of God's mercy. mercy. mercy.
