It kingdom of God the kingdom of heaven. It kingdom of God the kingdom of heaven. It is now and it's in the church. Even more is now and it's in the church. Even more is now and it's in the church. Even more so um the the spirit of the Lord is so um the the spirit of the Lord is so um the the spirit of the Lord is given to to each and everyone who is given to to each and everyone who is given to to each and everyone who is baptized and confirmed and strengthened baptized and confirmed and strengthened baptized and confirmed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. And yet, like the people that some way. And yet, like the people that were challenged in the synagogue, were challenged in the synagogue, were challenged in the synagogue, sometimes we fail to see that we don't sometimes we fail to see that we don't sometimes we fail to see that we don't get the deeper spiritual message about get the deeper spiritual message about get the deeper spiritual message about how we can bring about the manifestation how we can bring about the manifestation how we can bring about the manifestation of the kingdom of God. We we need to of the kingdom of God. We we need to of the kingdom of God. We we need to have deeper uh be open to deeper have deeper uh be open to deeper have deeper uh be open to deeper spiritual reflection.

  10. spiritual reflection. spiritual reflection. And on that note, I simply refer back to And on that note, I simply refer back to And on that note, I simply refer back to the first reading of St. Paul. Now this the first reading of St. Paul. Now this the first reading of St. Paul. Now this week we are going to be hearing from St. week we are going to be hearing from St. week we are going to be hearing from St. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. And uh we know that these people were uh And uh we know that these people were uh And uh we know that these people were uh people that were well informed about people that were well informed about people that were well informed about wisdom and philosophy. They come from a wisdom and philosophy. They come from a wisdom and philosophy. They come from a long tradition of you know Plato and long tradition of you know Plato and long tradition of you know Plato and Socrates and Aristotle and and so this Socrates and Aristotle and and so this Socrates and Aristotle and and so this this great body of philosophical wisdom this great body of philosophical wisdom this great body of philosophical wisdom was very much a part of their lives and was very much a part of their lives and was very much a part of their lives and and so they would they would be thinking and so they would they would be thinking and so they would they would be thinking you know they would be thinking and you know they would be thinking and you know they would be thinking and using their mind. Now, nothing wrong using their mind. Now, nothing wrong using their mind. Now, nothing wrong with reason and reason and faith are with reason and reason and faith are with reason and reason and faith are certainly quite compatible. And yet, um, certainly quite compatible. And yet, um, certainly quite compatible. And yet, um, sometimes when we rely only on reason sometimes when we rely only on reason sometimes when we rely only on reason and what seems reasonable, once again, and what seems reasonable, once again, and what seems reasonable, once again, we miss that deeper spiritual message we miss that deeper spiritual message we miss that deeper spiritual message that's there. And all week we will uh we that's there. And all week we will uh we that's there. And all week we will uh we will see St. Paul trying to get these will see St. Paul trying to get these will see St. Paul trying to get these people in Corenth to wake up to a deeper people in Corenth to wake up to a deeper people in Corenth to wake up to a deeper spiritual message. And I I just think spiritual message. And I I just think spiritual message. And I I just think that that's uh something that we also that that's uh something that we also that that's uh something that we also could do today uh to think about. Yeah.

  11. could do today uh to think about. Yeah. could do today uh to think about. Yeah. Yeah. I know all that stuff, but there's Yeah. I know all that stuff, but there's Yeah. I know all that stuff, but there's always something that's ma veiled, a always something that's ma veiled, a always something that's ma veiled, a hidden mystery that we we don't always hidden mystery that we we don't always hidden mystery that we we don't always quite get it. We come to mass daily and quite get it. We come to mass daily and quite get it. We come to mass daily and the prayers, the readings, the prayers, the readings, the prayers, the readings, uh always open our minds and hearts to a uh always open our minds and hearts to a uh always open our minds and hearts to a deeper dimension that we might have deeper dimension that we might have deeper dimension that we might have missed along the way. And then even missed along the way. And then even missed along the way. And then even later in the day as things happen uh we later in the day as things happen uh we later in the day as things happen uh we start thinking oh yeah that's that's start thinking oh yeah that's that's start thinking oh yeah that's that's that's like what I heard at mass this that's like what I heard at mass this that's like what I heard at mass this morning you know and uh so we he's very morning you know and uh so we he's very morning you know and uh so we he's very clearly St. Paul says this, I didn't clearly St. Paul says this, I didn't clearly St. Paul says this, I didn't come proclaiming the mystery of God to come proclaiming the mystery of God to come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. you in lofty words or wisdom. you in lofty words or wisdom. He's saying, forget that philosophy for He's saying, forget that philosophy for He's saying, forget that philosophy for the moment. Says, I decided to know the moment. Jesus Christ but Jesus Christ crucified. Jesus Christ but Jesus Christ crucified. Wow. That's a that's something for each Wow. That's a that's something for each Wow. That's a that's something for each and every every one of us to contemplate and every every one of us to contemplate and every every one of us to contemplate today. What is the meaning of that Jesus today. What is the meaning of that Jesus today. What is the meaning of that Jesus Christ crucified? It is the power of Christ crucified? 12. God. God. Demonstration of the spirit and of power Demonstration of the spirit and of power Demonstration of the spirit and of power so that your faith may rest not on human so that your faith may rest not on human so that your faith may rest not on human wisdom but on the grace of God and that wisdom but on the grace of God and that wisdom but on the grace of God and that mystery of Jesus Christ crucified. Summary

The sermon focuses on the core of faith, emphasizing that true spiritual understanding comes not from human wisdom but from the power of God, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ's crucifixion. It includes prayers for the departed and intentions, and the practical takeaway is to ground one's faith in God's power and love rather than worldly knowledge.
