Perhaps the most famous verse in the Perhaps the most famous verse in the Perhaps the most famous verse in the Bible, Bible, Bible, John 3:16. John 3:16. John 3:16. God so loved the world that he gave his God so loved the world that he gave his God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son only begotten son only begotten son that so that everyone who believes in that so that everyone who believes in that so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, him may not perish, him may not perish, but may have eternal life. Do I truly believe that God the Father, Do I truly believe that God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit love me God the Son, God the Holy Spirit love me God the Son, God the Holy Spirit love me personally? personally? personally? Not abstractly, Not abstractly, Not abstractly, not theoretically, not theoretically, not theoretically, but personally. but personally. but personally. Because the real question isn't only Because the real question isn't only Because the real question isn't only whether God loves the world. whether God loves the world. whether God loves the world. The question is the Holy Trinity has been quietly at the Holy Trinity has been quietly at work work work throughout our entire lives. throughout our entire lives. throughout our entire lives. 22. So, on this Solemnity of the Most Holy So, on this Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Trinity, Trinity, we can reflect on these five questions. we can reflect on these five questions. we can reflect on these five questions. First, First, First, slow down slow down slow down when making the sign of the cross. when making the sign of the cross. when making the sign of the cross. Sometimes we make it so quickly Sometimes we make it so quickly Sometimes we make it so quickly as if we were trying to brush away as if we were trying to brush away as if we were trying to brush away flies. But, the sign of the cross is much more But, the sign of the cross is much more than just a habit or routine. than just a habit or routine. than just a habit or routine. It's not magic. It's not magic. It's not magic. It's not superstition. It's not superstition. It's not superstition. It's a beautiful profession of our faith It's a beautiful profession of our faith It's a beautiful profession of our faith in the Father, and the Son, in the Father, and the Son, in the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. and the Holy Spirit. and the Holy Spirit. So, slow down. So, slow down. So, slow down. Make it prayerfully. Make it prayerfully. Make it prayerfully. Make it intentionally. Make it intentionally. Make it intentionally. And remember the God upon whom we are And remember the God upon whom we are And remember the God upon whom we are calling. And when we trace the cross upon And when we trace the cross upon ourselves, ourselves, ourselves, we remember that we remember that we remember that God entered into our world God entered into our world God entered into our world and remain with us.

  23. Second, Second, the sign of the cross is a public the sign of the cross is a public the sign of the cross is a public manifestation of our unique Catholic manifestation of our unique Catholic manifestation of our unique Catholic faith. faith. faith. So, don't be afraid to make the sign of So, don't be afraid to make the sign of So, don't be afraid to make the sign of the cross in public. the cross in public. the cross in public. Before meals at a restaurant, Before meals at a restaurant, Before meals at a restaurant, at school, at work, at school, at work, at school, at work, at the hospital. at the hospital. at the hospital. It's a beautiful witness to our Catholic It's a beautiful witness to our Catholic It's a beautiful witness to our Catholic faith. faith. faith. And sometimes when we make the sign of And sometimes when we make the sign of And sometimes when we make the sign of the cross in public, the cross in public, the cross in public, let's say at work, let's say at work, let's say at work, when your co-workers see you making the when your co-workers see you making the when your co-workers see you making the sign of the cross, sign of the cross, sign of the cross, that might prompt them for some that might prompt them for some that might prompt them for some questions that they might ask you. questions that they might ask you. questions that they might ask you. Third, Third, don't forget to pray to the Holy Spirit, don't forget to pray to the Holy Spirit, don't forget to pray to the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity. the third person of the Holy Trinity. the third person of the Holy Trinity. Many times we pray to the first two Many times we pray to the first two Many times we pray to the first two persons of the Holy Trinity, persons of the Holy Trinity, persons of the Holy Trinity, the Father and the Son, Jesus, the Father and the Son, Jesus, the Father and the Son, Jesus, because it might be easier for us to because it might be easier for us to because it might be easier for us to relate to Jesus.
