I grew up in Indiana in a Christian home grew up in Indiana in a Christian home grew up in Indiana in a Christian home and I can remember uh going to church on and I can remember uh going to church on and I can remember uh going to church on Sundays and Wednesdays and for the most Sundays and Wednesdays and for the most Sundays and Wednesdays and for the most part being surrounded by godly people part being surrounded by godly people part being surrounded by godly people with godly habits and I can remember with godly habits and I can remember with godly habits and I can remember that I was never allowed to listen to that I was never allowed to listen to that I was never allowed to listen to secular music or watch non-Christian secular music or watch non-Christian secular music or watch non-Christian movies and would definitely get soap in movies and would definitely get soap in movies and would definitely get soap in my mouth if we said the word shut up to my mouth if we said the word shut up to my mouth if we said the word shut up to each other. each other. each other. Uh, most of my friend groups also Uh, most of my friend groups also Uh, most of my friend groups also consisted of those that went to church consisted of those that went to church consisted of those that went to church in the same family group. And when I got in the same family group. And when I got in the same family group. And when I got into high school, I started dating into high school, I started dating into high school, I started dating someone who was a little bit older than someone who was a little bit older than someone who was a little bit older than me and he was not a Christian. And I can still remember the scripture in the back still remember the scripture in the back still remember the scripture in the back of my head saying, "You are supposed to of my head saying, "You are supposed to of my head saying, "You are supposed to be equally yolked." Um, by the time he graduated high Um, by the time he graduated high Um, by the time he graduated high school, he left me behind and went on to school, he left me behind and went on to school, he left me behind and went on to college and I was heartbroken and that college and I was heartbroken and that college and I was heartbroken and that is when depression came into my life and is when depression came into my life and is when depression came into my life and by the time of 18 I was prescribed by the time of 18 I was prescribed by the time of 18 I was prescribed anti-depressants. anti-depressants. anti-depressants. When I went to college, I started to When I went to college, I started to When I went to college, I started to party and drift away from the Lord even party and drift away from the Lord even party and drift away from the Lord even more and began to experiment with more and began to experiment with more and began to experiment with different drugs. different drugs. different drugs. My senior year of college, my dad died My senior year of college, my dad died My senior year of college, my dad died unexpectedly from cerosis of the liver. unexpectedly from cerosis of the liver. unexpectedly from cerosis of the liver. And that was a huge shock to me and my And that was a huge shock to me and my And that was a huge shock to me and my family um because alcohol was not family um because alcohol was not family um because alcohol was not allowed in our home growing up. And a week later, my grandma passed away as week later, my grandma passed away as week later, my grandma passed away as well. Um it was there in 2016 that I well. Um it was there in 2016 that I well. Um it was there in 2016 that I felt like my life went on a downward felt like my life went on a downward felt like my life went on a downward spiral. spiral. spiral. I got into my first abusive relationship I got into my first abusive relationship I got into my first abusive relationship that year and that year and that year and it was months of pain and and torment it was months of pain and and torment it was months of pain and and torment and eventually he was arrested that and eventually he was arrested that and eventually he was arrested that landed him in prison for five years and landed him in prison for five years and landed him in prison for five years and me left with a lot of trauma.

Eventually, I chose to go into a program Eventually, I chose to go into a program Eventually, I chose to go into a program called Teen Challenge, and I was able to called Teen Challenge, and I was able to called Teen Challenge, and I was able to successfully complete 18 months there, successfully complete 18 months there, successfully complete 18 months there, but I never surrendered my medication. but I never surrendered my medication. but I never surrendered my medication. I relapsed within two months of I relapsed within two months of I relapsed within two months of graduation to the same friend group. Uh graduation to the same friend group. Uh graduation to the same friend group. Uh I hadn't changed my social media or I hadn't changed my social media or I hadn't changed my social media or hadn't changed any of the habits in my hadn't changed any of the habits in my hadn't changed any of the habits in my life. life. life. And after that, the next year and a half And after that, the next year and a half And after that, the next year and a half was just more uh increased abusive was just more uh increased abusive was just more uh increased abusive relationship, increased drug addiction. relationship, increased drug addiction. relationship, increased drug addiction. And in March of 2021, I met someone in And in March of 2021, I met someone in And in March of 2021, I met someone in my hometown who promised me safety and my hometown who promised me safety and my hometown who promised me safety and security, something that I was looking security, something that I was looking security, something that I was looking for in everything. But I now know that for in everything. But I now know that for in everything. But I now know that only God can do that. only God can do that. only God can do that. This person, he invited me to the city This person, he invited me to the city This person, he invited me to the city of Chicago for a good time and partying of Chicago for a good time and partying of Chicago for a good time and partying and promised to bring me back, but he and promised to bring me back, but he and promised to bring me back, but he never did. He began trafficking me in never did. He began trafficking me in never did. He began trafficking me in downtown Chicago for the next four downtown Chicago for the next four downtown Chicago for the next four months. months. months. These four months were filled with These four months were filled with These four months were filled with torment and loneliness. torment and loneliness. torment and loneliness. I was unable to leave and unable to make I was unable to leave and unable to make I was unable to leave and unable to make my own decisions and I can only recall my own decisions and I can only recall my own decisions and I can only recall eating a meal two times.

And my weight had gotten so my memory. And my weight had gotten so my memory. At this point, I owed him for the safety At this point, I owed him for the safety At this point, I owed him for the safety that he was providing for me. Even that he was providing for me. Even though I asked him to take me back though I asked him to take me back though I asked him to take me back numerous of times numerous of times numerous of times throughout these four months, I had a throughout these four months, I had a throughout these four months, I had a praying mom. She didn't know exactly praying mom. She didn't know exactly praying mom. She didn't know exactly what was happening to me, but she knew what was happening to me, but she knew what was happening to me, but she knew her daughter needed help. And so through her daughter needed help. And so through her daughter needed help. And so through her prayer group at her church in her prayer group at her church in her prayer group at her church in Indiana, someone told her about the Indiana, someone told her about the Indiana, someone told her about the Chicago Dream Center and how they can Chicago Dream Center and how they can Chicago Dream Center and how they can help women get off the street in help women get off the street in help women get off the street in Chicago. So my mom reached out to the Chicago. So my mom reached out to the Chicago. So my mom reached out to the farm and asked the director to please farm and asked the director to please farm and asked the director to please reach out to me. The director began to reach out to me. The director began to reach out to me. The director began to sent me text messages of encouragement sent me text messages of encouragement sent me text messages of encouragement or scriptures of the day. And I remember or scriptures of the day. And I remember or scriptures of the day. And I remember receiving one random text message and it receiving one random text message and it receiving one random text message and it said, "You know, you don't belong there. said, "You know, you don't belong there. said, "You know, you don't belong there. You are a daughter of God." With a rose You are a daughter of God." With a rose You are a daughter of God." With a rose emoji and I can remember looking up and emoji and I can remember looking up and emoji and I can remember looking up and looking around like my eyes were open looking around like my eyes were open looking around like my eyes were open like, "Oh my gosh, I do not belong here.

And that's where I believe my surrender And that's where I believe my surrender And that's where I believe my surrender to God came in. And he was able to come to God came in. And he was able to come in and do the supernatural and get me in and do the supernatural and get me in and do the supernatural and get me out of that situation. out of that situation. out of that situation. Since then, God has healed my life in so Since then, God has healed my life in so Since then, God has healed my life in so many ways. I can remember getting to the many ways. I can remember getting to the many ways. I can remember getting to the farm and feeling like I was finally farm and feeling like I was finally farm and feeling like I was finally home, like I could finally rest and be home, like I could finally rest and be home, like I could finally rest and be safe both physically and spiritually, to safe both physically and spiritually, to safe both physically and spiritually, to have a place to come before the Lord and have a place to come before the Lord and have a place to come before the Lord and bring my trauma, to bring my worries and bring my trauma, to bring my worries and bring my trauma, to bring my worries and my cares to him. God began to just my cares to him. God began to just my cares to him. God began to just change so many things. He healed my I change so many things. He healed my I change so many things. He healed my I had two court cases. I was very had two court cases. I was very had two court cases. I was very physically ill and had a lot of physically ill and had a lot of physically ill and had a lot of problems, had a lot of issues. problems, had a lot of issues. problems, had a lot of issues. Upon completion of the program, I was Upon completion of the program, I was Upon completion of the program, I was able to come to Chicago and do an able to come to Chicago and do an able to come to Chicago and do an internship with the Dream Center where I internship with the Dream Center where I internship with the Dream Center where I learned how to pray for people. I learned how to pray for people. I learned how to pray for people. I learned how to serve people and I fell learned how to serve people and I fell learned how to serve people and I fell in love with it. And now I've become the in love with it. And now I've become the in love with it. And now I've become the director of the Chicago Dream Center.

and I truly cannot recognize the person and I truly cannot recognize the person I used to be. I used to be. I used to be. Our Rose of Sharon ministry that goes out every Sharon ministry that goes out every Sharon ministry that goes out every Friday night to pass out roses and Friday night to pass out roses and Friday night to pass out roses and minister to these women this year has minister to these women this year has minister to these women this year has been able to see 1,200 women, which is been able to see 1,200 women, which is been able to see 1,200 women, which is 7.5% of those trafficked women. 7.5% of those trafficked women. 7.5% of those trafficked women. Yes. Praise God.
