You know, I think we would have said You know, I think we would have said You know, I think we would have said that we were Christians growing up, but that we were Christians growing up, but that we were Christians growing up, but um we never went to church and uh and so um we never went to church and uh and so um we never went to church and uh and so I didn't have much whatever you want to I didn't have much whatever you want to I didn't have much whatever you want to call it, like kind of you know, younger call it, like kind of you know, younger call it, like kind of you know, younger background of of what it looked like to background of of what it looked like to background of of what it looked like to be a you know, in the body of Christ.

And so for me, the older that I got and And so for me, the older that I got and And so for me, the older that I got and the more that I experienced suffering on the more that I experienced suffering on the more that I experienced suffering on some pretty grand levels that would take some pretty grand levels that would take some pretty grand levels that would take four hours to unpack, um I uh uh by the four hours to unpack, um I uh uh by the four hours to unpack, um I uh uh by the time I was like kind of in my late time I was like kind of in my late time I was like kind of in my late teenage years, I you know, I've always teenage years, I you know, I've always teenage years, I you know, I've always been, you know, very much kind of like been, you know, very much kind of like been, you know, very much kind of like fastened to logic and reason and all fastened to logic and reason and all fastened to logic and reason and all those things, intellectual. Yeah. And so those things, intellectual. Yeah. And so those things, intellectual. Yeah. And so it sent me down this um down this path to basically ask some down this path to basically ask some down this path to basically ask some questions. And uh and so I started questions. And uh and so I started questions. And uh and so I started studying a lot. I studied um you know, studying a lot. I studied um you know, studying a lot. I studied um you know, obviously, you know, it got heavy into obviously, you know, it got heavy into obviously, you know, it got heavy into just studying the meaning of life and just studying the meaning of life and just studying the meaning of life and purpose. And anyway, all that to be purpose. And anyway, all that to be purpose. And anyway, all that to be said, I landed, you know, um um I ended said, I landed, you know, um um I ended said, I landed, you know, um um I ended up going to church with a lot of up going to church with a lot of up going to church with a lot of friends. And I went to a lot of friends. And I went to a lot of friends. And I went to a lot of different types of denominations and a different types of denominations and a different types of denominations and a lot of different outputs of those sorts lot of different outputs of those sorts lot of different outputs of those sorts of things. And um and the deeper that I of things. And um and the deeper that I of things. To figure to define suffering, right? To figure to define suffering, right? To figure out like why are we suffering? What's out like why are we suffering? What's out like why are we suffering? What's good? What's evil? All that and so good? What's evil? All that and so good? What's evil? All that and so ultimately I think everyone can relate ultimately I think everyone can relate ultimately I think everyone can relate to the idea that experiences develop to the idea that experiences develop to the idea that experiences develop curiosity, curiosity, curiosity, >> right? Something happens to you, you're >> right? Something happens to you, you're >> right? Something happens to you, you're like why did this happen? Yeah. Right. like why did this happen? Yeah. Right. like why did this happen? Yeah. Right. And you want clarity and the pursuit of And you want clarity and the pursuit of And you want clarity and the pursuit of clarity, you try and be curious. There's clarity, you try and be curious. There's clarity, you try and be curious. There's so many resources out there, especially so many resources out there, especially so many resources out there, especially now, you can just look something up. As now, you can just look something up. As now, you can just look something up. As someone who studies really the truth and someone who studies really the truth and someone who studies really the truth and defining truth and helping other people defining truth and helping other people defining truth and helping other people define that same truth. Yeah. define that same truth. Yeah. define that same truth. Yeah, dude. Great biblical doctrine? Yeah, dude. Great biblical doctrine? Yeah, dude. Great question because yeah, there's a lot of question because yeah, there's a lot of question because yeah, there's a lot of good stuff out there and there's a lot good stuff out there and there's a lot good stuff out there and there's a lot of not good stuff out there, you know, of not good stuff out there, you know, of not good stuff out there, you know, and so it's really hard to to do those and so it's really hard to to do those and so it's really hard to to do those things uh and and find the right avenue, things uh and and find the right avenue, things uh and and find the right avenue, so to speak, um well, I'll kind of riff so to speak, um well, I'll kind of riff so to speak, um well, I'll kind of riff off of you a little bit. Um, so we as Christians, obviously our source of Christians, obviously our source of Christians, obviously our source of authority comes from Jesus, um, and is authority comes from Jesus, um, and is authority comes from Jesus, um, and is made, you know, made tangible in the made, you know, made tangible in the made, you know, made tangible in the Bible. It's made tangible in scripture. Bible. It's made tangible in scripture. Bible. And what I mean by that is um is finding trusted mean by that is um is finding trusted mean by that is um is finding trusted people who are further than you, people who are further than you, people who are further than you, >> who have read the good stuff and have >> who have read the good stuff and have >> who have read the good stuff and have read the bad stuff and learn the hard read the bad stuff and learn the hard read the bad stuff and learn the hard way the bad stuff is the bad stuff and way the bad stuff is the bad stuff and way the bad stuff is the bad stuff and the good stuff is the good stuff and use the good stuff is the good stuff and use the good stuff is the good stuff and use them as a uh to help disciple you in the them as a uh to help disciple you in the them as a uh to help disciple you in the name of Jesus to help be mentored in name of Jesus to help be mentored in name of Jesus to help be mentored in those ways.

Like what I mean by that is don't try and what I mean by that is don't try and what I mean by that is don't try and find 20 resources tomorrow and just find 20 resources tomorrow and just find 20 resources tomorrow and just start stacking them on top of each other start stacking them on top of each other start stacking them on top of each other because before you know it knowledge because before you know it knowledge because before you know it knowledge will puff up, will puff up, will puff up, >> right? >> right? >> right? >> But if you get in community if you if >> But if you get in community if you if >> But if you get in community if you if you if you put yourself in an you if you put yourself in an you if you put yourself in an intentional place of disciplehip and intentional place of disciplehip and intentional place of disciplehip and just slowly start introducible just slowly start introducible just slowly start introducible and slowly introduce those resources and slowly introduce those resources and slowly introduce those resources from people that love you, trust you and from people that love you, trust you and from people that love you, trust you and most importantly their eyes are on Jesus most importantly their eyes are on Jesus most importantly their eyes are on Jesus and they're further than you are. you'll and they're further than you are. you'll and they're further than you are. you'll find uh that you'll kind of slowly build find uh that you'll kind of slowly build find uh that you'll kind of slowly build this arsenal of resources in that this arsenal of resources in that this arsenal of resources in that mentorship capacity. That's great. Uh mentorship capacity. That's great. Uh mentorship capacity. That's great. Uh that will lead you to a place of true that will lead you to a place of true that will lead you to a place of true understanding and relationship with understanding and relationship with understanding and relationship with Jesus. I feel like, you know, when you used to write papers in know, when you used to write papers in know, when you used to write papers in college, like the hardest part was college, like the hardest part was college, like the hardest part was starting the paper and then once you get starting the paper and then once you get starting the paper and then once you get going. So, like, how would you encourage going. So, like, how would you encourage going. So, like, how would you encourage someone who's new to the faith, where do someone who's new to the faith, where do someone who's new to the faith, where do they start? Where do they begin? So, so many times when we're writing a paper, what's what where we're writing a paper, what's what where we're writing a paper, what's what where where we get stuck is that we think where we get stuck is that we think where we get stuck is that we think about we we we don't start and make an about we we we don't start and make an about we we we don't start and make an outline first, right? So, like we don't outline first, right? So, like we don't outline first, right? So, like we don't start and say, "Okay, here's my end goal start and say, "Okay, here's my end goal start and say, "Okay, here's my end goal and here's all of the truth claims I'm and here's all of the truth claims I'm and here's all of the truth claims I'm going to put together in order to get to going to put together in order to get to going to put together in order to get to that end goal." And the truth is is your that end goal." And the truth is is your that end goal." And the truth is is your walk is the same way. So, how about walk is the same way. So, how about instead of I'm going to flood with all instead of I'm going to flood with all instead of I'm going to flood with all of this stuff, you instead sit down with of this stuff, you instead sit down with of this stuff, you instead sit down with the Holy Spirit and you pray and say, the Holy Spirit and you pray and say, the Holy Spirit and you pray and say, "Lord, just reveal to me one step at a "Lord, just reveal to me one step at a "Lord, just reveal to me one step at a time. What is it that is to be uniquely time. What is it that is to be uniquely time. What is it that is to be uniquely revealed to me? And how am I ought to go revealed to me? And how am I ought to go revealed to me? And how am I ought to go about finding that in community in the about finding that in community in the about finding that in community in the Bible and those different aspects?" And what's really neat is along the way the Holy really neat is along the way the Holy really neat is along the way the Holy Spirit will will reveal to you what that Spirit will will reveal to you what that Spirit will will reveal to you what that end unique role is. But honestly, sometimes just taking one truth claim at sometimes just taking one truth claim at sometimes just taking one truth claim at a time, studying it out, engaging in a time, studying it out, engaging in a time, studying it out, engaging in your relationship with Jesus is the key. your relationship with Jesus is the key. your relationship with Jesus is the key. Slow, Slow, Slow, >> you know, you don't have to you don't >> you know, you don't have to you don't >> you know, you don't have to you don't have to be you don't have to be like a have to be you don't have to be like a have to be you don't have to be like a scholarly theologian tomorrow. You know scholarly theologian tomorrow. You know scholarly theologian tomorrow. You know what I'm saying? Like it all starts with what I'm saying? Like it all starts with what I'm saying? Like it all starts with the pressure.

And therefore, none of our journeys him. And therefore, none of our journeys him. Let me put it to you this way.

He doesn't just want your rhythms and He doesn't just want your rhythms and routine. routine. routine. He wants your submission and surrender. Some people may have changed their Some people may have changed their behavior, behavior, behavior, but they still protect their idols. You still have areas in your life that You still have areas in your life that you don't want Jesus to deliver you from you don't want Jesus to deliver you from you don't want Jesus to deliver you from because those demons have been keeping because those demons have been keeping because those demons have been keeping you company for so long. Some of you are so afraid of being Some of you are so afraid of being lonely that you would re rather lonely that you would re rather lonely that you would re rather entertain demons than live a surrendered or submitted than live a surrendered or submitted life. No, the evidence is speaking in tongues. No, the evidence is speaking in tongues. No, the evidence is a gift. And every person that is filled a gift. And every person that is filled a gift. And quite frankly, some of us are And quite frankly, some of us are And quite frankly, some of us are spiritually malnourished and our environments have changed, but and our environments have changed, but our motives have not. our motives have not. our motives have not. Our Our Our surroundings have changed, but our minds surroundings have changed, but our minds surroundings have changed, but our minds have not.

Our relationships have changed, but our Our relationships have changed, but our soul has not. It is not until the power of the Holy It is not until the power of the Holy Spirit infills us. We have an opportunity We have an opportunity We have an opportunity to steward our lives with freedom like to steward our lives with freedom like to steward our lives with freedom like we've never known before. Point in case, Point in case, whenever you read the gospels, you see whenever you read the gospels, you see whenever you read the gospels, you see the disciples the disciples the disciples being able to hear Jesus, see Jesus, being able to hear Jesus, see Jesus, being able to hear Jesus, see Jesus, touch Jesus, travel with Jesus.
