took her to the took her to the Methodist Church Methodist Church Methodist Church so we had all of these spiritual so we had all of these spiritual so we had all of these spiritual influences shaping influences shaping influences shaping my mom my mom my mom and then to discover that while she was and then to discover that while she was and then to discover that while she was pregnant with me pregnant with me pregnant with me she had a vision she had a vision she had a vision of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Lord Jesus Christ and his heart and his heart and his heart and it scared her so bad and it scared her so bad and it scared her so bad that she kind of freaked out on it and that she kind of freaked out on it and that she kind of freaked out on it and she just kept it to herself she just kept it to herself she just kept it to herself and didn't let anyone know so as I am and didn't let anyone know so as I am and didn't let anyone know so as I am going through the history of all of this going through the history of all of this going through the history of all of this it's just giving greater affirmation to it's just giving greater affirmation to it's just giving greater affirmation to my own calling my own calling my own calling and purpose in life amen and purpose in life amen and purpose in life amen the more you understand yesterday but the more you understand yesterday but the more you understand yesterday but again it's in the light of who I am again it's in the light of who I am again it's in the light of who I am today it's in the light of where I am today it's in the light of where I am today it's in the light of where I am today it's in the light of all that today it's in the light of all that today it's in the light of all that God's done because if it's not in that God's done because if it's not in that God's done because if it's not in that light you can look back and say wow that light you can look back and say wow that light you can look back and say wow that was a terrible experience for my mother was a terrible experience for my mother was a terrible experience for my mother to to you know to get pregnant and lose to to you know to get pregnant and lose to to you know to get pregnant and lose a scholarship to come to the United a scholarship to come to the United a scholarship to come to the United States which he had to run track with States which he had to run track with States which he had to run track with Tuskegee the fact that she was a gold Tuskegee the fact that she was a gold Tuskegee the fact that she was a gold medalist in Panama running track a medalist in Panama running track a medalist in Panama running track a silver medalist she ran for Venezuela silver medalist she ran for Venezuela silver medalist she ran for Venezuela for Jamaica for Jamaica for Jamaica and she was getting ready to go to the and she was getting ready to go to the and she was getting ready to go to the Helsinki games met my father who was a Helsinki games met my father who was a Helsinki games met my father who was a restaurateur and a successful

so that I can capture that information so that I can capture that information to preserve it and pass it on to preserve it and pass it on to preserve it and pass it on to my grandchildren my children my to my grandchildren my children my to my grandchildren my children my children's children children's children children's children we were there speaking to leaders we were there speaking to leaders we were there speaking to leaders um former first lady and elected um former first lady and elected um former first lady and elected officials were there some of the top officials were there some of the top officials were there some of the top leaders in in Christian circles were leaders in in Christian circles were leaders in in Christian circles were there 30 percent of Panama is there 30 percent of Panama is there 30 percent of Panama is evangelical evangelical evangelical uh when I was born it was 93 Catholic it uh when I was born it was 93 Catholic it uh when I was born it was 93 Catholic it is now 70 Catholic so there's shifts is now 70 Catholic so there's shifts is now 70 Catholic so there's shifts that are going on there are social and that are going on there are social and that are going on there are social and cultural issues and these passes and cultural issues and these passes and cultural issues and these passes and leaders want to understand how do we leaders want to understand how do we leaders want to understand how do we bring Christ to the culture yeah bring Christ to the culture yeah bring Christ to the culture yeah how do we navigate that tension uh how do we navigate that tension uh how do we navigate that tension uh between separation and engagement of the between separation and engagement of the between separation and engagement of the culture between the ideal that we culture between the ideal that we culture between the ideal that we represent and the reality is that we represent and the reality is that we represent and the reality is that we have to face in the process of bringing have to face in the process of bringing have to face in the process of bringing that ideal uh between staying faithful that ideal uh between staying faithful that ideal uh between staying faithful to truth in a world filled with to truth in a world filled with to truth in a world filled with deception to maintain a moral standard deception to maintain a moral standard deception to maintain a moral standard in a world that's filled with immorality in a world that's filled with immorality in a world that's filled with immorality we as Christians live in many tensions we as Christians live in many tensions we as Christians live in many tensions that we don't even realize that create a that we don't even realize that create a that we don't even realize that create a lot of emotional stress and on a lot of emotional stress and on a lot of emotional stress and on a day-to-day basis we're challenged with day-to-day basis we're challenged with day-to-day basis we're challenged with the decisions that we have to make the the decisions that we have to make the the decisions that we have to make the relationships that we engage in all of relationships that we engage in all of relationships that we engage in all of that being a Christian is not easy no that being a Christian is not easy no that being a Christian is not easy no all right all right all right and that's why he gave us the Holy
