  26. here at Calvary, deacons and elders. here at Calvary, deacons and elders. Yeah, we can clap. It's a beautiful Yeah, we can clap. It's a beautiful Yeah, we can clap. It's a beautiful thing to watch new leaders emerge. thing to watch new leaders emerge. thing to watch new leaders emerge. I don't know if you know this or not, I don't know if you know this or not, I don't know if you know this or not, but this church is not primarily led by but this church is not primarily led by but this church is not primarily led by staff. And the reason we and care for people. And the reason we and care for people. And the reason we show these pictures is because we want show these pictures is because we want show these pictures is because we want to affirm the leadership of these men to affirm the leadership of these men to affirm the leadership of these men and women here at this church. The men and women here at this church. The men and women here at this church. The men and women who serve here aren't the ones and women who serve here aren't the ones and women who serve here aren't the ones who maybe are the most famous out there, who maybe are the most famous out there, who maybe are the most famous out there, the ones that that that write the the ones that that that write the the ones that that that write the biggest checks or the people who, you biggest checks or the people who, you biggest checks or the people who, you know, put themselves out there. They know, put themselves out there. They know, put themselves out there. They quietly, humbly serve the people of God. quietly, humbly serve the people of God. quietly, humbly serve the people of God. And so we put their names before you And so we put their names before you And so we put their names before you because we often get so much feedback because we often get so much feedback because we often get so much feedback of, hey, that woman who's been of, hey, that woman who's been of, hey, that woman who's been nominated, that man who's been nominated, that man who's been nominated, that man who's been nominated, they help me in so many ways. nominated, they help me in so many ways. nominated, they help me in so many ways. And we also put it up because when when And we also put it up because when when And we also put it up because when when we put a leader up, the Bible says they we put a leader up, the Bible says they we put a leader up, the Bible says they need to be above reproach or accusation need to be above reproach or accusation need to be above reproach or accusation both inside and outside the church. So both inside and outside the church. So both inside and outside the church. So if one of those pictures you're like, if one of those pictures you're like, if one of those pictures you're like, "Hey, I saw that at the post office or "Hey, I saw that at the post office or "Hey, I saw that at the post office or that person stole my wallet last week." that person stole my wallet last week." that person stole my wallet last week." Let us know right away. Um, but honestly Let us know right away. Um, but honestly Let us know right away. Um, but honestly that that never really happens because that that never really happens because that that never really happens because uh there's this beautiful process uh in uh there's this beautiful process uh in uh there's this beautiful process uh in the family of God. So if if you're if the family of God. So if if you're if the family of God. So if if you're if you're new here and you're like, man, I you're new here and you're like, man, I you're new here and you're like, man, I I wonder if I could be a leader one day, I wonder if I could be a leader one day, I wonder if I could be a leader one day, I want to encourage you. We have this I want to encourage you. We have this I want to encourage you. We have this disciplehip pathway from when people disciplehip pathway from when people disciplehip pathway from when people first start following Jesus and coming first start following Jesus and coming first start following Jesus and coming here to go, what does it mean for me to here to go, what does it mean for me to here to go, what does it mean for me to connect in this large church in the area connect in this large church in the area connect in this large church in the area of service? Well, we we well, aren't aren't healthy. Well, we we well, aren't aren't healthy. Well, we we know this from psychology, know this from psychology, know this from psychology, this thing of attachment styles that you this thing of attachment styles that you this thing of attachment styles that you grow up in different ways. I'm going to grow up in different ways. I'm going to grow up in different ways. I'm going to show you just a a quadrant real quick. show you just a a quadrant real quick. show you just a a quadrant real quick. If if if things go uh the way maybe they If if if things go uh the way maybe they If if if things go uh the way maybe they were designed to go in a beautiful way, were designed to go in a beautiful way, were designed to go in a beautiful way, you experience the top left, a secure you experience the top left, a secure you experience the top left, a secure attachment. Your adult relationships, attachment. Your adult relationships, attachment. Your adult relationships, you have healthy boundaries. You have you have healthy boundaries. You have you have healthy boundaries. You have mutual trust and support. You go through mutual trust and support. You go through mutual trust and support. 45. selfworth. selfworth. Maybe bottom right you had just this Maybe bottom right you had just this Maybe bottom right you had just this very confusing way that people very confusing way that people very confusing way that people interacted with you in your family interacted with you in your family interacted with you in your family depending on there was maybe some depending on there was maybe some depending on there was maybe some domestic violence or some drug and domestic violence or some drug and domestic violence or some drug and alcohol abuse and so you become a fear alcohol abuse and so you become a fear alcohol abuse and so you become a fear full of rejection. You you don't know full of rejection. You you don't know full of rejection. You you don't know how to see yourself. You have a how to see yourself. You have a how to see yourself. You have a difficult time trusting or relying on difficult time trusting or relying on difficult time trusting or relying on people because people didn't show up for people because people didn't show up for people because people didn't show up for you. So you don't know how that's going you. So you don't know how that's going you. So you don't know how that's going to happen for you. to happen for you. to happen for you. And then maybe you end up with And then maybe you end up with And then maybe you end up with dismissive and avoidant attachment dismissive and avoidant attachment dismissive and avoidant attachment because your parents didn't express because your parents didn't express because your parents didn't express emotion. You ask your kids to clean with him. You ask your kids to clean with him. You ask your kids to clean their room. Often I would say to my their room. Often I would say to my their room. Often I would say to my three boys when they're at home, "Hey, three boys when they're at home, "Hey, three boys when they're at home, "Hey, it's time to clean your room. You can't it's time to clean your room. You can't it's time to clean your room. You can't watch TV until you clean your room." And watch TV until you clean your room." Sometimes we can obey God and grit our Sometimes we can obey God and grit our Sometimes we can obey God and grit our teeth because it's the right thing to teeth because it's the right thing to teeth because it's the right thing to do. But God would be more interested in do. But God would be more interested in do. But God would be more interested in saying even though I don't want to. saying even though I don't want to. saying even though I don't want to. You're worth it to me.
