And even when uh two people languages. And even when uh two people languages. And even when uh two people value quality time, they don't always value quality time, they don't always value quality time, they don't always mean the exact same thing. Every one of us has at this series. Every one of us has at this series. Every one of us has at least one primary love language. It's least one primary love language. It's least one primary love language. It's the way we naturally uh receive love. the way we naturally uh receive love. the way we naturally uh receive love. But the goal isn't just to know your But the goal isn't just to know your But the goal isn't just to know your love language. It's to become fluent in love language. It's to become fluent in love language. It's to become fluent in all five. And you're saying, "Well, why all five. And you're saying, "Well, why all five. And you're saying, "Well, why is that?" Because the people God has is that?" Because the people God has is that?" Because the people God has placed in your life and in my life don't placed in your life and in my life don't placed in your life and in my life don't all receive love in the same way. If you're going to love people well, we you're going to love people well, we you're going to love people well, we need to learn how to speak their love need to learn how to speak their love need to learn how to speak their love language, not just our own. They have a way of making you feel like They have a way of making you feel like They have a way of making you feel like you're the only person in the room. They you're the only person in the room. They you're the only person in the room. They don't just have conversations. They don't just have conversations. They don't just have conversations. They build connection. They because they build connection. They because they build connection. They because they value presence so highly. Their value presence so highly. Their value presence so highly. Their relationships are often deep and relationships are often deep and relationships are often deep and meaningful. We actually see the meaningful. We actually see the meaningful. We actually see the foundation for this all the way back in foundation for this all the way back in foundation for this all the way back in creation. In Genesis 2, God created Adam creation. You know what actually being with them. You know what actually being with them. You know what I'm talking about. We can be sitting in I'm talking about. We can be sitting in I'm talking about. We can be sitting in the same room, riding in the same car, the same room, riding in the same car, the same room, riding in the same car, even eating at the same table, yet be even eating at the same table, yet be even eating at the same table, yet be completely disconnected. That's why we completely disconnected. That's why we completely disconnected. That's why we have to understand what quality time have to understand what quality time have to understand what quality time really is. When we say quality time, it really is. It it's quality over quantity. Anyone who knows quality over quantity. Anyone who knows quality over quantity. Anyone who knows good food understands this.

And although the days it costs about as much as a steak, days it costs about as much as a steak, days it costs about as much as a steak, but there's all those there's those but there's all those there's those but there's all those there's those restaurants with only a handful of items restaurants with only a handful of items restaurants with only a handful of items on the menu. And have you ever noticed on the menu. And have you ever noticed on the menu. And have you ever noticed that the smaller the menu, the more that the smaller the menu, the more that the smaller the menu, the more expensive the meal? My biggest nightmare expensive the meal? My biggest nightmare expensive the meal? My biggest nightmare is when they hand me a menu and or when is when they hand me a menu and or when is when they hand me a menu and or when they hand me no menu at all and all they they hand me no menu at all and all they they hand me no menu at all and all they say is we're serving one thing. At that point, I'm thinking, well, they got a point, I'm thinking, well, they got a point, I'm thinking, well, they got a layaway plan cuz this is going to be layaway plan cuz this is going to be layaway plan cuz this is going to be expensive. But the point is this, expensive. But the point is this, expensive. It's always costs more because it's It's always costs more because it's It's always costs more because it's worth more. The same is true in worth more. The same is true in worth more. The same is true in relationships. Quality matters more relationships. Quality matters more relationships. Quality matters more simply counting hours together because simply counting hours together because simply counting hours together because quality time strengthens the quality time strengthens the quality time strengthens the relationship. Quality time isn't just proximity. It's presence.

That means turning off the TV, not checking notifications when TV, not checking notifications when TV, not checking notifications when someone is sharing their heart. It means someone is sharing their heart. It means someone is sharing their heart. It means giving someone your full attention giving someone your full attention giving someone your full attention because they deserve it. Don't multitask because they deserve it. Don't multitask because they deserve it. Don't multitask your relationships. Physical present your relationships. Physical present your relationships. Physical present doesn't guaranteed emotional or doesn't guaranteed emotional or doesn't guaranteed emotional or spiritual presence. And don't wait until spiritual presence. And don't wait until your relationship is in trouble before your relationship is in trouble before your relationship is in trouble before we start making time for it. And you're saying why why conversation. And you're saying why why conversation. And you're saying why why does that matter? Because when you give does that matter? Because when you give someone your full attention, you're someone your full attention, you're someone your full attention, you're communicating something powerful that communicating something powerful that communicating something powerful that you matter to me. And that's what makes you matter to me. And that's what makes you matter to me. This is this is literally what I'm talking about. They all the what I'm talking about. They all the what I'm talking about. They all the time. But what happens is what we need time. When you do that, you're reflecting the heart you do that, you're reflecting the heart you do that, you're reflecting the heart of God through scripture. We don't see a of God through scripture. No, we see a God busy for his people. No, we see a God busy for his people. No, we see a God who draws near, a God who listens, a God who draws near, a God who listens, a God who draws near, a God who listens, a God who is present. That's the kind of who is present. That's the kind of who is present. That's the kind of relationship he desires with us. And relationship he desires with us. And relationship he desires with us. And it's the kind of presence that we're it's the kind of presence that we're it's the kind of presence that we're called to give to the people we love and called to give to the people we love and called to give to the people we love and the people around us. Look at Exodus 33.

This wasn't some random encounter where they happened to see encounter where they happened to see encounter where they happened to see Jesus walking by and yelled, "Hey Jesus, Jesus walking by and yelled, "Hey Jesus, Jesus walking by and yelled, "Hey Jesus, do you have a few minutes?" Mary wasn't just hanging around Jesus. She wasn't just hanging around Jesus. She wasn't just hanging around Jesus. She wanted to learn from him. She believed wanted to learn from him. She believed wanted to learn from him. She believed he he had something to say that would he he had something to say that would he he had something to say that would change her life. She understood that change her life. She understood that change her life. She understood that time with Jesus wasn't wasted at time.

And isn't that the biggest enemy of quality time? You see, biggest enemy of quality time? You see, biggest enemy of quality time? You see, distractions will will eliminate quality distractions will will eliminate quality distractions will will eliminate quality time. One of the hardest things for you time. One of the hardest things for you time. One of the hardest things for you and for me to do is to put our phone and for me to do is to put our phone and for me to do is to put our phone down. Isn't it amazing that Martha down. Isn't it amazing that Martha down. Isn't it amazing that Martha wasn't distracted by bad things? She was wasn't distracted by bad things? She was wasn't distracted by bad things? She was distracted by good things. And see, she distracted by good things. And see, she distracted by good things. And see, she was serving. Are you chasing after good things in life while chasing after good things in life while chasing after good things in life while you're missing the better things in your you're missing the better things in your you're missing the better things in your relationships? relationships? relationships? If you want your marriage, your friendships, your family, marriage, your friendships, your family, marriage, your friendships, your family, and even your relationships with God to and even your relationships with God to and even your relationships with God to stand your relationship with God to stand your relationship with God to stand your relationship with God to stand firm and stand the test of time, stand firm and stand the test of time, stand firm and stand the test of time, you have to invest quality time into you have to invest quality time into you have to invest quality time into them. Strong relationships don't happen them. Strong relationships don't happen them. Strong relationships don't happen by chance. They're built one intentional by chance. A busy schedule starts to feel like rejection. Independence feels like like rejection. Independence feels like like rejection. Independence feels like abandonment. And eventually, people abandonment.
